What is solar photovoltaic power generation?
Solar light is ubiquitous, and resource-poor countries, including Korea, need to pay attention to development of alternative energy sources other than fossil fuels.
Solar photovoltaic energy represents one of the most important challenges that need to be highlighted in this respect.
Fortunately, solar cell technology is identical to semiconductor technology, a field in which Korea has established a leading position worldwide.
As Korea has a lot of deep mountains and remote islands, it is costly to connect electric wires separately to each power grid.
Therefore, it is necessary to use such an energy sources that can produce electricity independently without separate power supply from the outside.
For resolution of such issue, solar photovoltaic power technology has been widely used.

[Principe of solar cell]
When surface of solar cell is exposed to sunlight, electrons with negative(-) electrical charge move toward the poles of solar cell(P-type semiconductor) while electrons with positive(+) electrical charge move toward the N-type semiconductor of solar cell.
In the solar cell where electrons are transferred, a potential difference is generated. At this time, if wire is connected to both ends of solar cell, current will flow
[Diagram of photovoltaic power generation system]
When solar cells are exposed to sunlight, electricity is generated as the electrons move. The electricity generated in that way flows into power regulators that keeps the electricity amount at certain level along the wire.
Then, the electricity flows into inverter that converts the current to alternating current which can be used in daily lives.
