Friction Isolation Pendulum FIP¢ç / FIP-D¢ç
A bridge bearing with pendulum-moving ball bearing system supporting the superstructure on smooth friction surface having a constant curvature.
The engineering name is Self-Centering Seismic Isolation System and the product name is FIP¢ç using the initials of Friction Isolation Pendulum.
1. Features
• Since it represents a hysteretic behavior based on the work caused by friction and resilience, there is no need for replacement of bearings because there is no material yielded after earthquake.
• The natural frequency interference effect between original structure and bridge rubber bearing is extremely small, minimizing the limitation of the dynamic characteristics of bridge bearing.
• Resonance band review between original structure and bridge bearing with TP = 2¥ð¡î(R/g), the cycle of pendulum motion
• Special slip material with high bearing strength and low coefficient of friction, maximizing the applicability of bridge bearing
• Important concept of seismic design that minimizes damages caused by aftershocks and secondary damages by applying voluntary restoration functions of original structure after earthquake
• Bridge bearing based on plastic deformation energy caused by material yield reduces the restoration ability when the energy dissipation capacity is higher
2. Shape
• The top and bottom Concave Slider Plates and the pendulum between them are the main components
• The sliding material(UHMW-PE) applied to the friction surface between Concave Slider Plates and Pendulum is a key element of FIP¢ç miniaturization.
